Overview
A Midwestern Cement Industry Client required an additional 90,000 tons of cement storage for their plant operations. The client received a recommendation from another firm to install a storage dome in a location that would have been a significant distance from the plant causing less efficient logistical operations and increased energy costs to transport cement to the dome. PENTA was engaged by the client to complete the EPC Storage Dome Project and was able to site the dome in a much closer location to the plant’s existing operations.
Result
PENTA’s EPC scope of services included completion of detail engineering (civil/structural, mechanical and electrical engineering), procurement of labor, equipment and materials, all construction (civil/earthwork, mechanical erection, electrical installation), and startup and commissioning.
Siting the storage dome closer to existing plant operations resulted in $1,000,000 in project and operational savings by not having to relocate roads and not having higher energy requirements to transport the cement over a longer distance.
