Overview
PENTA specializes in completing complex distribution terminal & logistics projects including this railcar unloading to truck loading cement distribution terminal completed on an EPC (Engineering/Procurement/Construction) basis.
CHALLENGES & SOLUTIONS:
- The project property required special designs due to its unique configuration – 200’ width x 2500’ length. Of the project property area, only a 125’ width was usable. The railroad required 25’ of clearance, an additional 25’ was needed for a new rail line, and the terminal had to be located 25’ from existing power lines.
- Subzero weather conditions required the use of heaters to maintain sufficient ground temperatures to maintain the construction schedule.
- The terminal needed to be able to accommodate oversized trucks with pup trailers, so roadways were designed for these trucks and the truck scale was sized accordingly.
CHALLENGES & SOLUTIONS:
PENTA’s engineering team completed basic and detailed engineering design for all disciplines including mechanical, civil/structural, and electrical engineering.
PENTA’s industrial team completed all equipment procurement for the terminal including storage silos, construction including site/civil works, mechanical erection, and electrical equipment installation, and dry and wet commissioning of the terminal.
