Overview
PENTA is currently working on a pillar stability assessment project for a functional underground mine where concerns for the safety of the mine’s operators existed.
The mine owner decided to reassess their ground control plan after hiring a local contractor to remove the questionable arches from their pillars. The owner selected PENTA’s mining engineering consulting group, PEC Consulting, to illuminate the problem and discover an economical solution.
After examining 100+ arches, PENTA’s mine consultants found over a dozen arches to be structurally sound. They will not require abatement from a safety standpoint. This evaluation of the mine’s ground control plan is estimated to save the owner approximately $200,000.
PENTA’s consulting fee was a fraction of the cost for abatement, and provided assurance to the mine operators and Owners concerning the safety of the mine.
Talented mine engineers can potentially reduce risk and the costs associated with maintaining the stability and safety of your mining facilities.
